Clinical Nurse Specialist: Acute Care Medicine

I am a Clinical Nurse Specialist in an Academic Medical Center in Greenville, NC and work on general medicine units.

Privately owned Family Practice based out of a small office. Busy workflow with onsite lab collection, EKGs, PFTs, DOT physicals and minor procedures. A laid back atmosphere with a canine mascot that roams freely.

The office begins appointments before online listed hours and typically finishes later so often times students only work one or two days a week since the shift is a bit longer

Fast paced geriatric center with a lot of pathology including diabetes, hypertension, renal disease, cardiac and lung disorders. Very good training in internal medicine.

Monday through Thursday with flexible hours. A great staff to work with.

There are many universities in NC that offer NP programs. We are a frequently requested site. Please call early to request a clinical placement.

The practice setting is located within an outpatient behavioral health office. The services that I provide include diagnostic and medication management for patients that are in need of diagnostic and medication management. The patient population served is across the lifespan, beginning at age 6. We also offer Addiction Medication Management Services, for persons experiencing opioid addiction.

We also offer behavioral health counseling services.

We are an NP owned practice since 2009. We love to serve our community and it’s proven through high rating in client satisfaction. I would be happy to precept anyone interested in pain management, allergies, geriatrics, mental health, community health or chronic care.

Hospice

I visit hospice patients wherever they may live -- their homes, nursing homes or assisted living facilities -- to ensure comfort, treat symptoms, and assess for continued eligibility to hospice. This preceptorship involves a lot of geriatric assessment, but probably less treatment decisions than other preceptorships.
